NUS Dialogue Project on Faith & Sexuality Resource Pack

Between January and July 2012 NUS (National Union of Students, UK) ran a pilot project that aimed to support staff and students in Further Education colleges to tackle tensions, real and perceived, between LGBT equalities, and religion and belief equalities.

As a result of this project we produced the resource pack, Facilitating Dialogue on Faith and Sexuality in Further Education’.

At the heart of the project was the belief that good mutually respectful relationships between learners from different backgrounds are more likely to be developed when learners can express and explore their personal experiences, rather than rehearse fixed opposing principles.

This resource pack includes an exploration of what a dialogue approach is and how it can help build good relationships between students in colleges, as well as sample activity plans and case studies from Higher Education and Further Education settings.

Our thanks go to all of those who contributed to the project in some form and helped shape it’s development; and also to the project’s funders, the Learning and Skills Improvement Service (LSIS) and the Skills Funding Agency (SFA) for backing this innovative piece of work.

A great resource to facilitate discussion of sensitive topics - like faith and sexuality! I see silent discussion has been included too.

If the Belieforma training was an inspiration for your work in this, could you please send us a °snapshot° about that for our upcoming publication?

Thank you!
